About this artwork
I created this ceramic vessel as part of my Strata series, where I explore time, memory, and inner archaeology. The form reminds me of a fragment of an ancient wall or column, where traces of once solid structures remain embedded in the surface. These protruding blocks feel like remnants of something greater — ruins that carry both strength and imperfection.
The vessel is hand-built from chamotte clay using sculptural techniques. It went through… two firings, with the final glaze firing at 1050°C.
For me, this piece embodies the idea of time as both builder and destroyer — how history leaves behind layers and fragments, which we can only partially reconstruct. It is raw and architectural, yet open to interpretation. Suitable for display both indoors and in a garden setting.
