About this artwork

A wild mountain valley full of flowers and light. The stones are warm, the grass is soft, and flowers with pretty colours grow everywhere in this beautiful landscape. Tall pine trees stand calm and strong, like quiet guards of nature.

Behind them, the snow-covered mountains are big, cold and powerful. They touch the sky with white clouds above. Everything feels fresh and peaceful.

I painted this using both realism and expressionism. The shapes… are real—but the mood, the light, and the quiet come from strong feelings. It’s not just a place. It’s the breath of the forest and the heartbeat of the mountain.

Emil Kasymov is an artist based in Kyrgyzstan whose paintings have been featured in solo exhibitions nationally, as well as in China, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Denmark. He believes that art cannot exist without meaning and that each composition is imbued with an aura that one feels instead of sees. Often creating a painting, Kasymov will sometimes spend up to three days in nature to fully "hear and feel" before beginning a piece.
