About this artwork
A diptych exploring the tension between suffering and release. Intense reds and greens dissolve into light across two contrasting panels, creating an emotional dialogue shaped by vulnerability and transformation.
Golgotha – Diptych brings two contrasting panels into quiet conversation. One carries a visceral weight—its blurred cruciform presence emerging through red and green tones. The other leans toward light and dissolution, hinting at release… and renewal. Part of my Golgotha series, the diptych reflects the tension between anguish and healing, inviting viewers to feel the shift between shadow and softness. Displayed with a 2 cm spacing, the two panels form one contemplative composition.
Printed on museum-grade etching paper, whose tactile surface allows pigments to sink into the fibres like paint. The result is a uniquely painterly photographic work — soft, textured, and rich in depth. Three sizes available.

Eric Rugers (Melbourne, 1970) is a hybrid abstract artist working between painting and photography. His images begin in layered painted surfaces, photographed in extreme close-up and translated into tactile giclée prints where colour, light and form shift into presence.
With over thirty years in illustration and design, Rugers brings a sharp sense of composition, rhythm and chromatic balance. In 2024 and 2025, his work entered the MA-g Museum collection. Curator Andréa Da Palma (Galerie Perrotin) noted his “striking command of saturation and luminous tonal shifts.”
Working within Perceptualism, he creates images that resist narration and invite sustained looking.
Influenced by Turner, Rothko and Richter, as well as the Japanese aesthetics of yūgen and ma., his work rewards slow looking, reveals new nuances over time, and sustains attention beyond the first glance.
