In Baking Thunder, I blend the mythic power of Thor with the familiar symbolism of Arm & Hammer baking soda. I loved placing a god of thunder in a humorous, everyday gesture—holding a simple box of baking soda as if it were a sacred relic. That contrast between epic and ordinary is the heart of the painting.
Thor’s intense gaze, his winged helmet, and the tension in his muscles ground him in realism, while the bright logo behind him ties the mythological… world to modern culture. The splashes of red, blue, and black add movement and a pop-art energy that keeps the scene alive and playful.
With this piece, I explore how power and simplicity can coexist, and how even iconic figures can tell new stories when placed in unexpected contexts.
