About this artwork
In “Sarah’s Connor,” I fuse my love for cinema, pop culture, and 1980s Americana into a single playful yet striking portrait. I reimagine Sarah Connor not as the warrior we know, but as a diner waitress caught between two worlds—smiling politely while holding a chrome coffee pot shaped like a Terminator skull. Her pastel uniform, soft pink tones, and retro styling contrast sharply with the metallic menace in her hand, creating a tension that feels… both humorous and unsettling.
Behind her, bursts of color, graffiti textures, and vintage comic tones expand the scene into a pop-art universe. I wanted this piece to feel nostalgic and familiar, yet entirely unexpected, blending sweetness, rebellion, and a touch of cinematic chaos. Through this painting, I explore how iconic characters can live outside their stories—ordinary, extraordinary, and strangely human all at once.
Ettore Bechis, a Turin-born artist working in the United States, expresses his artistic language through painting, set design, and tattoos, combining pop culture experiences with a practical background. He uses a mix of techniques such as acrylics, textures, and layering, alternating figurative realism, graphic energy, and impactful theatrical compositions. His works explode with intense colors, contrasts, and iconic references to rock and pop culture. With a fusion of irony and emotional depth, he seeks to convey energy, identity, and contemporaneity, engaging the viewer in a dynamic and immediate visual narrative.
