About this artwork
In Super Lubrication, I reimagine Iron Man through a playful pop-art lens, merging heroism with everyday practicality. Instead of a repulsor blast, he raises a can of WD-40 like a secret weapon—because even the most advanced armor needs a little maintenance. I painted his suit with bold strokes and saturated colors to amplify the energy and metallic reflections, while splashes and drips introduce a raw, urban vibration.
The contrast between the… high-tech armor and the familiar blue-and-yellow can creates an immediate, humorous tension. It’s my way of grounding a larger-than-life icon in something human, accessible, and unmistakably American. This piece celebrates ingenuity, humor, and the spirit of invention—qualities that define both Tony Stark and the world we live in.
Ettore Bechis, a Turin-born artist working in the United States, expresses his artistic language through painting, set design, and tattoos, combining pop culture experiences with a practical background. He uses a mix of techniques such as acrylics, textures, and layering, alternating figurative realism, graphic energy, and impactful theatrical compositions. His works explode with intense colors, contrasts, and iconic references to rock and pop culture. With a fusion of irony and emotional depth, he seeks to convey energy, identity, and contemporaneity, engaging the viewer in a dynamic and immediate visual narrative.
