About this artwork
Traveling the road that leads up to Castel del Monte, one cannot help but be struck by what suddenly appears before one's eyes in all its majesty. This mysterious fortress, built by Frederick II of Swabia, embodies "magic" and "esotericism."
The spectacle that I wanted to add to the already spectacular castle is represented by the “Pugliese Spring”, its colours and the inevitable feminine charm.
I created this work because I live a few kilometers… from the Castle. In spring, the fields turn red. I'm also a photographer, so I often go to that enchanted place to take photographs that become the ideal inspiration for my paintings. I want to make emotions visible; outside the painting, the turmoil and boredom of life; inside, the fullness of a suspended moment. Desire to live. This is what art is for, because one life is not enough.

Ezio Ranaldi, is an artist born in Canosa di Puglia, in the Province of Bari, on May 23, 1948, where he lives and works. He has held many solo and group exhibitions in various cities, including Tarquinia, at the Etruscopolis Museum, in Ferrara at the Estense Castle, in Cannes in France, in Norwich in Great Britain, in Paris, in Bari, and in many other Italian locations. He has participated in various International Biennials including Rome, Florence, Ferrara, Lecce, Verona. Present in various Modern and Contemporary Art Fairs, including Padova Arte, ExpoArte in Bari, Artisti in Mostra in Parma, Artexpo in New York, Arte Salerno. Numerous prizes and awards. His works appear in public and private collections, as well as being published several times in catalogs and contemporary art magazines. Valuable critics have expressed themselves regarding his work.
