About this artwork
In my work "Structures & Cracks on the Seabed," I captured the fascinating structure of the seabed from a bird's eye view. Using a seven-layer spatula technique, I worked with coffee grounds, lime putty, marble powder, and Baltic Sea sand, applying approximately 25 layers of paint.
The upper half of the painting shines in bright white with a delicate bronze shimmer, while the lower section is in shades of blue, green, and soft yellow, separated… by an irregular line of gold-bronze. Metallic colors, gold pigments, and liquid acrylic paints unfold an enchanting sparkle depending on the light, allowing the artwork to shine in all its depth.
For me, “Structures & Cracks on the Seabed” is an expression of movement, depth, and artistic precision—a unique piece that enlivens spaces and invites viewers to discover the subtle structures, cracks, and 3D effect.
Gabriele Hofer is a self-taught painter who works experimentally with acrylic paints, texture pastes, marble powder, Baltic Sea sand, and epoxy resin. She combines fluid layers of paint with tactile surfaces, creating abstract compositions full of organic dynamism and balanced harmony. Her works convey a special depth and vibrancy, characterized by a connection to nature and emotional resonance. Her paintings invite the viewer to discover individual sensations, tranquility, and longings.
