About this artwork
For this work, I once again drew inspiration from the world's most expensive wines. Their artistic labels were the focus of my idea: I printed out numerous of them, assembled them into a collage, and then further developed it in my own style. This created an interplay of real fragments and painterly interpretation that emphasizes the aura of luxury and uniqueness.
The background—as is typical in my work—is layered in acrylic and enhanced with subtle… shading in oil, creating additional depth and materiality. The work is part of the IN VINO VERITAS series, in which wine and glass are continually re-envisioned as symbols of enjoyment, fragility, and truth.
