About this artwork
I had been immersed in a high fashion glossy magazine when I was struck by the incongruity of some fashion accessories and at the same time was thinking of effacement through dress. The convoluted dress form here create a charged tension between surface and depth. The subject is posed and styled but gesture and colour hold the body at the edge of defiance and fragility, invisibility and presence.
