About this artwork
This work explores the tension between the social mask and the body that supports it. The persona, necessary for social existence, sometimes imposes a prolonged effort that leaves little room for direct expression.
Faced with this constraint, the body develops repetitive, discreet, almost invisible gestures — not to free itself, but to maintain balance.
The gesture depicted here is a regulatory gesture, rooted in an ancient bodily memory. It does… not tell a story, it reproduces a mechanism.
Through deliberately smooth and restrained oil painting, the artist avoids any dramatization. The tension remains present, without resolution, inscribed in the repetition itself.
