The original image was a nature shot on the beach taken with a Polaroid camera. Using a process I developed, the Polaroid was removed from its developing frame and further processed. I then placed this image on a white background and layered light-colored wool threads over it. It was then photographed again. It was then digitally processed and a digital print was created on canvas with a stretcher frame in a plastic floater frame. The gaps in the… frame were filled with raw wool. The artwork can stand alone or be combined to form an altar consisting of 10 images. The special treatment makes the work an original. There may be a prototype for exhibition purposes, but this will remain in my possession and not for sale.
Ilona Johanna Plattner works as a photographer, digital artist, and visual artist, rooted in experiences from a childhood full of imagination and her studies at the Münster Art Academy. Her works are created through the unusual merging of diverse materials—from natural to industrial products—combined with her own texts and lyrical elements. She uses any media she deems appropriate, using herself as a model. With her art, she aims to touch, stimulate thought, and transcend the boundaries between art and commodity, science and love—her works bear a vibrant, deeply human, and touching commitment to freedom.
