The artwork is a collage. The lower image is a photo print from an old glass photographic plate. It is a portrait of a wedding couple. This was combined with a Polaroid photo of a river landscape. Using a process I developed, I removed the Polaroid from its developing frame. The now transparent Polaroid was then glued onto the photo of the wedding couple. I photographed the resulting photo object again. I then digitally edited it slightly and printed… it on canvas with a stretcher frame in a plastic floater frame. I filled the gaps in the frame with beads of my own hair. The artwork can stand on its own or be combined to form an altar consisting of 10 images. Due to the special treatment, the work is an original. There may be a prototype for exhibition purposes, but this will remain in my possession and not for sale.
Ilona Johanna Plattner works as a photographer, digital artist, and visual artist, rooted in experiences from a childhood full of imagination and her studies at the Münster Art Academy. Her works are created through the unusual merging of diverse materials—from natural to industrial products—combined with her own texts and lyrical elements. She uses any media she deems appropriate, using herself as a model. With her art, she aims to touch, stimulate thought, and transcend the boundaries between art and commodity, science and love—her works bear a vibrant, deeply human, and touching commitment to freedom.
