About this artwork
I am fascinated by the moment when something begins to move: when rigid boundaries dissolve, colors merge, and new possibilities emerge. With Thaw, I explore this transition – from the frozen to the fluid, but also from inner reserve to a new openness.
I created all three panels using encaustic techniques, working with layers of melted wax. This process creates transparencies, structures, and a vibrant depth that changes depending on the light.…
In Still Water, misty tones meet deep blue. Glow brings a moment of vibrant energy to the triptych with its luminous yellow-green bursting from cool gray. In Frozen Grove, vertical lines, icy blue, and warm ochre tones create a captivating rhythm.
I work intuitively and let myself be guided by what develops on the canvas during the process. This results in works whose meaning is not predetermined.

Ingeborg Ludwig, with a solid background in art, primarily uses encaustic, a hot wax technique, and acrylic painting. Her style is process-oriented, abstract, and strongly material-based, characterized by calming organic forms, seamless transitions, and multi-layered surfaces. Her artworks explore the invisible world of emotions and inner landscapes, inviting the viewer on an introspective journey to free themselves from the hustle and bustle of the external world. She addresses realms of change and resonance in a quiet, intuitive way to convey deep, moving emotional states.
