This piece was inspired by the colors along the California coastline in the early, quiet hours before the morning fog clears. The artist skillfully uses simple pattern, shapes and solids to reflect the minimalistic style and an iconic yet relaxed feel of the Mid-Century Modern era. Represented in galleries across the USA, the artist is well known for the her works on birch wood and the way she sands back into her work to reveal what she calls "the… history of the painting", and her pristinely smooth finished surfaces. The masterful use of contrast in values and colors in The Quiet Hours make an impact from a distance, then up close this piece reveals new discoveries in the graceful, quiet details achieved from the artist's sanding and layering process (see additional photos). The Quiet Hours is 16" x 16" acrylic and graphite on a quarter inch thick birch wood panel, framed in a natural maple 1.5" deep gallery quality wood floating frame, ready to hang.
« Beautiful art comes from inspiration. Inspiration comes from being present, from feeling alive. That's what art is for. »
