About this artwork
This happened to be an old abstract painting of mine which i changed but still maintaining some of the old designs. The term “ Akuaba” in the Ghanaian language means Akua’s child. Akua is a name given to a female born on a Wednesday. In Ghana names are given according to the day of birth, so for example the former United Nations secretary general the late Kofi Annan was born on a Friday thus given the name Kofi. The story of this painting is an Akan… legend of a woman called Akua who was barren. She sort help from a traditional priest who asked a carver to carve a wooden baby for Akua. After completion the traditional priest asked Akua to carry the wooden baby at her back and treat it as a real human being. Akua eventually gave birth to her own child. This explains that positive thinking was practiced years years ago. This artwork has been painted on a canvas and rolled in a tube. when brought it should be sent to a framer to stretch on a wooden frame(stretcher) .
