About this artwork
This painting happens to be an old painting Kwesi made about 20years ago in Ghana, which he requested to be sent to him. It was sent to him about 2 years ago from Ghana. He has taken time and lots of patience to retouch it and made lots of changes. Kwesi has portrayed a group of seven figures predominantly women engaged in a synchronised performance playing large golden belled saxophones. A blend of African figurative traditions with a modern stylised… aesthetic. The painting is dominated by rich monochromatic blues and violet scheme. This painting, he says is on canvas but not stretched on a wooden frame. If purchased, artwork will be rolled in a tube and shipped. Buyer will have to take it to a framer for re-stretching onto a wooden frame(stretcher) and framed.
« I am an artist with a unique voice that has range, power, and discipline. »
Jacob Kwesi Bennett is an artist based in the United Kingdom whose paintings have been exhibited nationally, as well as in his native Ghana, Slovenia, the United States, and Italy. His main objective is to create something of beauty that is aesthetically pleasing to the eye. Bennett's figurative compositions are representational, rendered in a "stylized and idealized way". He weaves symbolism, allegory, indirect references, and esoteric purpose within each of his pieces.
