About this artwork
A travel into the past. This is a reflection of the struggle of the black race for survival, equality etc. The 2 portraits he says is a representation of who we are - royals, warriors, and survivors. He says that we as a race need to begin to picture ourselves as royals, warriors and survivors. He has depicted the ongoing battle with warriors in the background holding shields, spears. The figures all around the painting is an indication for black unity… . The traditional xylophone on the lower right sums it up. It is made of straps of wood joined together with strings and underneath are gourds of various sizes all tied together which when played produces that rich sound. Artwork is painted on a rolled canvas and will have to be sent to a framer to stretch on a stretcher.
