In *Digitalis*, JChadima transforms the distinctive structure of the foxglove into a compelling dialogue between nature and abstraction.
Elongated, flowing forms rise and overlap across the composition, preserving the plant’s characteristic vertical rhythm while releasing it from botanical representation. Earthy greens, ochres, warm yellows, olive tones, and subtle violets create an atmosphere of organic density, movement, and light.
Through… enlargement, simplification, and shifting spatial relationships, JChadima turns observation into transformation. The familiar plant becomes a visual exploration of nature’s underlying geometry—revealing the tension between structure and fluidity, and the quiet energy of growth through colour, rhythm, movement, and form.

JChadima (James Chadima) is a Paris-based multidisciplinary artist whose painting, drawing, and photography explore the transformation of observed reality through colour, form, and abstraction. Born in Wisconsin, he studied Fine Arts and Psychology at the University of Southern Colorado, now Colorado State University Pueblo.
Under the guidance of John Henry Johnson, whose documented relationship and correspondence with Ansel Adams introduced JChadima to the Zone System, he developed a disciplined way of seeing that continues to inform his work. This foundation connects his practice to American Modernism through Adams, Alfred Stieglitz, Georgia O’Keeffe, and Arthur Dove.
At the heart of JChadima’s practice is transformation. Close observation moves his work beyond the familiar, reimagining his subjects through line, form, colour, rhythm, structure, and space.
Exhibited and collected internationally, JChadima is recognized by AKOUN and holds an established international quotation for his work.
