About this artwork
In Oleander, JChadima transforms the plant’s distinctive botanical structure into an exploration of organic geometry, rhythm, colour, and spatial tension. Enlarged petals and leaves overlap, fold, recede, and re-emerge through interlocking curves and intervals of negative space, creating depth without conventional perspective. Pale greens, yellows, lavender, violet, and muted earth tones establish relationships of light and shadow, giving the forms…
sculptural presence. Through close observation, JChadima distils the oleander into line, curve, colour, and movement while preserving its botanical identity. Suspended between recognition and abstraction, the flower reveals unexpected rhythms and complex spatial relationships concealed within nature’s familiar organic architecture.

JChadima (James Chadima) is a Paris-based multidisciplinary artist whose painting, drawing, and photography explore the transformation of observed reality through colour, form, and abstraction. Born in Wisconsin, he studied Fine Arts and Psychology at the University of Southern Colorado, now Colorado State University Pueblo.
Under the guidance of John Henry Johnson, whose documented relationship and correspondence with Ansel Adams introduced JChadima to the Zone System, he developed a disciplined way of seeing that continues to inform his work. This foundation connects his practice to American Modernism through Adams, Alfred Stieglitz, Georgia O’Keeffe, and Arthur Dove.
At the heart of JChadima’s practice is transformation. Close observation moves his work beyond the familiar, reimagining his subjects through line, form, colour, rhythm, structure, and space.
Exhibited and collected internationally, JChadima is recognized by AKOUN and holds an established international quotation for his work.
