In Resilience, JChadima transforms a personal confrontation with mortality into a meditation on endurance, vulnerability, and love. Created during treatment for a fourth cancer diagnosis, organic forms rise through pearl greys, soft whites, yellow-green, and violet, embodying fragility and strength. At its emotional heart is the sustaining presence of his family—his spouse and daughter Sadie—whose love, constancy, and companionship gave strength…
through uncertainty. The artist’s “currency of time” becomes profoundly personal: an awareness that life’s finite nature makes each shared moment precious. Resilience ultimately honours family, creativity, and the persistent determination to remain open to love, connection, and life.
