About this artwork
This painting is called eyeFrog for somewhat obvious reasons. Center is a carved frog from Oaxaca as a centerpiece that I took liberty to alter its colors and pattern. Two oppositely facing lizards bracket the frog. The background is left unpainted save for deep shadows and a plethora of abstracted amphibian and reptilian eyes. The original impetus for this piece comes from my background as a trained naturalist. I wanted to explore and expand upon…
