About this artwork
This past week I turned 50, and during an intensive time of serious reflection, I dedicated the days before, the day of, and days after my birthday to finally completing this work (originally started in 2016). This exhaustive creative process, and all it's particular complications and challenges, was the gift I gave to myself for such a milestone birthday. This painting is part of a winter series of geometric inspired works infused with the hallmarks of Abstract Expressionism as well as Action Painting (as each style is interpreted via mark making and vivid color field abstraction). Movement remains central to the visual language of this painting as the composition commingles with a Caligulian spree of color and form.

Jon Parlangeli is a passionate American painter and sculptor who has widely exhibited his work throughout the U.S. Fascinated by the process of creation, he composes works that experiment with color and the physicality of paint.
