About this artwork
I LOVE this study. It is curiously innocent, inspiring and happily personal. The work is a construct, a collage, a slice of life assembled from the departed parts of past paintings that just did not work out. I keep a stack said unfortunates in my studio like a mechanic keeps spare parts in the garage. After all, the parts are often worth more to me than their sum which is why I am an experimental process painter by nature, and why I have so much… fun creating these in between my other work. The background has a base of silver spray paint that is overlaid in gold metallic spray paint. While the surface is still wet I distress the paint creating a better sense of depth and mystery to the background. The work is created with oil, acrylic, spray paint, marker and canvas pieces an a stretched canvas. Enjoy!
« Either way, my message for the viewer is simple. Enjoy my work for its visual elements. Experience the excitement of the micro, macro, and then the subliminal. Rinse and repeat. »
Jon Parlangeli is a passionate American painter and sculptor who has widely exhibited his work throughout the U.S. Fascinated by the process of creation, he composes works that experiment with color and the physicality of paint. Parlangeli's creations stand out for their depth and tactility, appearing as explosions of bright color and unexpected shapes. Parlangeli additionally includes a representational balance of nature and humanity in his work, that merges with abstract elements to create a kind of historic bibliophile hidden in the paint.
