About this artwork
With this work, I sought to capture the essence of resilience and serenity in a hostile environment. I used pastel and charcoal to highlight every detail, every grain of frost, reflecting the harshness of the moment and the inner strength of the subject. I wanted to convey a profound calm and an intimate connection with nature, so that whoever views it feels that pure and sincere energy in their own space.
José Antonio Martín Santos is a painter, draftsman, and printmaker with a degree in Fine Arts from the University of Salamanca and extensive experience in exhibitions and competitions. He primarily uses oil paints, as well as dry techniques such as charcoal, pastel, and Conté crayon, combining the rigor of academic drawing with loose and expressive brushstrokes within a figurative style attentive to detail and atmosphere. His works, focused on Mediterranean landscapes, the human figure, and still lifes, convey contemplation, silence, and wonder at the beauty of light, materials, and the everyday.
