One of the pieces shown at the Mayflower Museum, Plymouth UK to celebrate the voyage of the Mayflower in 1620, this oil painting captures the quiet strength and resilience of the Pilgrims . The voyage is complete and the boat sits at anchor after completing the uncertain and hostile ocean. The birds symbolise freedom and guidance and the soft light brings a feeling of relief.
