About this artwork
With Bardot Amazon, I explore the transformation of a person into a collective image.
Inspired by a photograph of Brigitte Bardot, this work is not intended as a realistic portrait or a nostalgic tribute. What interests me is the way certain figures become visual myths — identities shaped, consumed, and endlessly reinterpreted by society.
In the Social Myths series, I examine the tension between the individual and the projection built around them.… The face becomes fragmented through layers of color, crossed lines, and unstable contrasts, creating the feeling of multiple perceptions existing simultaneously.
I built the painting through successive layers of acrylic and graphic interventions, allowing the surface to vibrate between seduction, strength, and distortion.
This piece was created for the Brigitte Bardot Foundation charity auction, adding another layer to the work: the dialogue between the real woman, the public figure, and the symbolic image that survives beyond both.
