About this artwork
This extremely magnificent blossom of a summer magnolia falls towards the viewer from above. He looks into her innermost being, which offers food to insects. The alabaster-like white of the petals was only created through the pencil and the white of the drawing cardboard. There is a great deal of dynamism in the explosive opening of the leaves. The contrast between the delicate, ephemeral blossom and the firm, everlasting leaves is fascinating.
