About this artwork
The work "Infra-red city" is the second in the so-called "Infra-red" series. The work was created based on a photographic template from the Internet. The work is a representation of an urban section in infrared colors. These differentiate the individual elements according to their thermal value and represent an expanded view of the urban environment - both scientifically and artistically. Properties of environmental elements that are not visible… under normal circumstances become visible in this way.
Ken Spohrer uses painting, photography, and drawing as expressive media, influenced by his formative experience at the Guggenheim Museum. His works are characterized by complex techniques and an experimental style in which he plays with light, perspective, and color. With each painting, he invites the viewer to experience wonder, amazement, and the excitement of the moment.
