About this artwork
"Era" is a deeply personal piece for me, born out of a desire to balance raw emotion with contemporary painterly technique. I used bold, textured brushwork and a nuanced palette of cool blues against warm undertones to build a presence that I hope feels both powerful and intimate.
My main focus while painting this was the psychological depth of the subject—capturing a gaze that feels timeless, yet tells a deeply personal story. I built the piece… with rich layers and energetic marks to give it a life of its own on the canvas.

Hi, my name is Kristina "Kiki" Spring (née Kucerova). Born in former Czechoslovakia, I studied literature and fine arts at Comenius University in Bratislava before moving to the United States and eventually settling in Switzerland. Living between cultures has profoundly shaped my perspective, inspiring an ongoing exploration of identity, memory, and emotional landscapes.
Today, my studio practice is dedicated to expressive abstract landscapes and female portraits. Grounded in a signature warm golden palette inspired by autumnal light, each piece invites the viewer on an imaginary and emotional journey.
Working from my studio in Zug, Switzerland, I build each canvas through up to 20 translucent glazes, tactile impasto textures, and floating geometric symbols. My paintings offer a sanctuary for curiosity, inviting viewers to trace their own paths through the layers.
