About this artwork
I wanted her eyes dominate the canvas, holding yours with an unsettling, magnetic focus that locks the room in place. There is no passivity in her expression; it is a direct, heavy confrontation.
She looks at you not just to see, but to figure you out. Her gaze carries the weight of a silent calculation—as if she is measuring your depths against her own, looking past the surface to find what is hidden. She stands on the edge of speaking, holding… a truth or a secret back, waiting to see if you are perceptive enough to read it in the line of her jaw or the stillness of her posture. It feels less like you are observing a painting, and more like you have just been caught in her crosshairs.

Credentials
- Works on commission
Hi, my name is Kristina "Kiki" Spring (née Kucerova). Born in former Czechoslovakia, I studied literature and fine arts at Comenius University in Bratislava before moving to the United States and eventually settling in Switzerland. Living between cultures has profoundly shaped my perspective, inspiring an ongoing exploration of identity, memory, and emotional landscapes.
Today, my studio practice is dedicated to expressive abstract landscapes and female portraits. Grounded in a signature warm golden palette inspired by autumnal light, each piece invites the viewer on an imaginary and emotional journey.
Working from my studio in Zug, Switzerland, I build each canvas through up to 20 translucent glazes, tactile impasto textures, and floating geometric symbols. My paintings offer a sanctuary for curiosity, inviting viewers to trace their own paths through the layers.
