About this artwork
Made of ash wood, this sculpture is very vegetable inspired. Lianas, lines, seem to spring freely, in search of light.
This piece plays with shadows and lights. These shadows and these lights are also drawn on the walls or on the ground, according to the lighting or the sunshine. The reliefs of the highly textured surface catch the light. The presence of this sculpture is strong and gentle at the same time.
It is presented on a steel base 16… x 51 cm.

« Trying to reach the essential, in all its simplicity, humility and authenticity. Attempt to touch my own authenticity. »
Whether painting, sculpting or writing, Marc Laffolay strives for a direct, meditative and impulsive gesture.
He strives to banish any intervention of the mind, to privilege the spontaneous act, sincerity, without conscious reference to fashions and other trends.
For him, these are the conditions of authenticity.
