About this artwork
A canvas that I painted horizontally and not on an easel.
From a background in shades of black, scratched, scarified, sanded, I throw my gestures onto the canvas.
I then favor rhythm, drive, like a dance.
The music I am listening to at that moment is very important and influences the magnitude and rhythm of these gestures.
I try to ignore the mind, to favor a direct, spontaneous expression, without calculations.
For me, these are the conditions… of authenticity.
Among other things, I use branches that I dip in paint or ink.
In the end, the eye wanders and discovers, a bit like when you raise your head under a tree and see the branches dancing in the wind against the sky in the background.
