About this artwork
The sixth in the Mask Series, "Trattenere" is a powerful and intimate contemporary reinterpretation that visually engages with Renaissance classicism. Trattenere explores the invisible weight of the past: the figure holds the skeleton of a creature in her arms, a symbol of pain, trauma, or loss that is hard to let go of.
The work is dedicated to anyone who finds themselves trapped in a moment of their life, suspended in the memory of what is no… longer there. More than a testimony of suffering, this canvas aims to be a profound blessing, a spiritual and visceral exhortation to release that suffocating grip and allow the soul to finally breathe and live again.
Note on materials:
The work is made with high-quality automotive acrylic paints, recycled for eco-friendliness, which guarantee resistance over time.
The canvas is shipped in a tube, unless specifically requested.
Marco Marroccu is a self-taught painter who uses acrylics, automotive paint, and industrial pigments in an upcycling approach that demonstrates a profound concern for the environment. His expressionist technique is characterized by rapid, visceral strokes, always underpinned by poetry, where form gives way to emotional urgency and inner rebirth. His works convey profound feelings of pain, struggle, awareness, and hope, offering viewers a cathartic journey through the "monsters" of existence to the light of healing.
