About this artwork
The undergrowth of a mountain slope offers a variety of visual cues: the rocks, the meadow, the flowers and the variety of vegetation caressed by the light and standing out against the thicker forest. The sun is about to set and the colours become more intense and saturated. The clear sky and the trees are depicted at the end of a summer that seems never-ending if it were not for the warm shades of the impending autumn. The location is very dear… to the painter who has frequented it for many years and has reconstructed the most deeply rooted suggestion in his memory at a particular moment. It is a glimpse of the Asiago Plateau which just over a hundred years ago was the scene of clashes and devastating destruction during the First World War. The painting has its own autonomy and is proposed here individually but can be combined with two other paintings in a triptych entitled "The Triptych of Peace". The canvas is very thick and is also painted laterally to be displayed without a frame.
