About this artwork
From "Invisible Cities" by Italo Calvino: Leaving there and going three days eastward, the man finds himself in Diomira, a city with sixty silver domes, bronze statues of all the gods, streets paved with tin, a crystal theater, a golden rooster that crows every morning on a tower... he begins to envy those who now think they have already lived an evening like this one and were happy that time.
In this work of mine I wanted to explore the deep connection… between man and the city, merging fantastic architectures and human faces in a suspended and surreal space. The serene tones of imaginary cities evoke a sense of inner peace and reflection. Each element is imbued with meaning, inviting the observer to get lost in the blurred boundaries of reality and dream. This work will transmit a contemplative quiet and a timeless wonder in every environment in which it is placed.
Maria Pia Mucci, dedicated to painting and engraving, trained in Siena, Trieste and Venice. He uses mixed techniques, from watercolor to oil, through etching and woodcut, in a style inspired by surrealism and metaphysics. Through the themes of the "City" and the "Synapses", he reflects on social evolution and human relationships. His works convey a profound vision of urban dynamics and interpersonal contacts from the high vantage point of surrealism, without ever losing their lightness.
