About this artwork
RE 31 emerged in 2025 from a period of intensive exploration of color as surface and state. The composition did not develop from a preconceived idea, but rather from the repeated application, shifting, and letting of layers of paint set. This process creates a pictorial space that relies less on contrasts than on transitions.
I worked with fields of color that assert themselves side by side without clearly defining their boundaries. The rosy base… remains present and supports the overlying greens, blues, and earth tones. The surface shows irregularities and marks that were not corrected but are part of the final result.
Measuring 30 × 40 cm, RE 31 appears focused and immediate. The image does not demand a fixed viewpoint, but rather allows for a gradual exploration of the surface. It is conceived as an open invitation to perception, born from an experimental, ongoing process.
