About this artwork
In "Latitudes 3," I captured a moment of everyday life in a tropical landscape at sunset. A farmer and his buffalo wade silently through the shallow water, dark silhouettes against the golden light flooding the scene.
The leaning tree in the foreground frames this composition bathed in a warm atmosphere where the fiery sky is reflected on the calm water. In the distance, we can make out a village nestled in the lush vegetation - palm trees, banana… trees, and tropical plants of various shapes.
This work evokes my memories of Southeast Asia and bears witness to this ancestral relationship between man, animal, and nature. I sought to capture this fleeting moment when daily labor takes on an almost sacred dimension in the evening light.
Martial Bidard, born in Paris and trained by Pierre Laurent Brenot, is a painter and draftsman who has embraced a nomadic journey across four continents. A master of watercolor and light in oil paintings, Bidard established a style he called "Figuratif Onirique," capturing subtly altered reality in a poetic and meditative manner. His work transcends the boundaries between the real and the imaginary, offering a contemplative dimension where landscapes become mental spaces. Bidard's vibrant palette inspires an invitation to meditation, sparking a deep connection between the eye and the heart.
