About this artwork
In "Latitudes 6," I captured a tropical lakeside village as the day wavers between dawn and dusk. The orange and mauve sky creates a dreamlike atmosphere that is gently reflected in the calm water at the center of the composition.
Traditional palm-roofed huts blend perfectly with the surrounding vegetation—slender palm trees and vibrant tropical flowers in the foreground. I paid particular attention to these orange and purple flowers that frame… the scene, creating a vibrant contrast with the deep greens of the foliage.
This painting evokes my memories of villages I visited in French Guiana and Southeast Asia, where human habitat blends into lush nature. I convey this impression of a fragile and precious balance between man and his natural environment.
