About this artwork
"Look Me", by Maurizio Rosella, presented in 2024 at the Salone di ArtePadova is part of the "Borders" series, of which it is one of the main works, it is a work that questions the relationship between the one who looks and the one who is looked at, transforming the concept of observation into a reflection on the border between oneself and the other. The surface of the mirror, covered by a barbed wire net, creates a physical and symbolic barrier… that distorts the viewer's reflection, forcing him to confront a fragmented and trapped vision of himself, while at the same time the writing LookME imperatively forces us to look at ourselves in the mirror. The artist in this magnificent and complex work always asks us the same question, are our desires our limits? Will we ever be able to go beyond and overcome them?
Maurizio Rosella, trained within the walls of the Uffizi, expresses himself through painting, installations and urban art. His techniques, such as reverse painting on glass or plexiglass, create an evocative barrier between artist and observer, conveying the depth of the soul. His works, full of conceptualism, arouse a sense of sophisticated alienation and introspection.
