About this artwork
In this artwork, I wanted to capture the excitement and hope that come with beginning a new journey in life. The gently rounded plaster cast of a baby bump forms the centerpiece of this work. The soft blue and white color scheme reinforces the maritime atmosphere. Above it lies a delicate fishing net, symbolizing the endless expanse of the ocean. Melanie Meyer, a self-taught artist, dedicates her work to the intensive exploration of human experience. Her art gives a voice to those affected worldwide, breaks taboos, demands justice, and serves as a testament to suffering and resilience. Driven by the search for humanity and the exploration of human existence, she creates multifaceted art that touches and inspires reflection. She sees her works as powerful instruments to bring light into an often dark world and to remind us of the inalienable nature of our humanity. She is currently seeking sponsors who share her vision to further develop her exhibition "Because what must not be cannot be," a memorial dedicated to the victims of sexual violence.
