About this artwork
My practice allows me to explore visual experiences made possible with digital technology. Since the 1980s, digital technology has been used in advertising and promotion to visually romanticize, idealize, and fantasize about ourselves in our world. Michael Eugene Katz is a pioneering digital visual artist with deep roots in traditional analog mediums, drawing on a rich art education and decades of experience in visual art. He combines digital painting, printmaking, and photography in ways that are unique and unattainable with conventional art mediums.
Katz’s practice is characterized by a spirit of experimentation and reasoning that pushes beyond the conventional artistic objectives of storytelling and message-making. Katz produces artworks that evoke questions, stimulate new thoughts, release the subconscious, and activate the imagination beyond the limits of language.
