About this artwork
A painting by the artist of his home city of Manchester showing an elevated view from a balcony at Piccadilly train station done in the artists usual, unique, distinctive, quasi-expressionistic style. The painting was created over several years on account of that shortly after he finished a first version, developers demolished a red-brick, Victorian buildings that was in the left of the scene and replaced it with a large modern hotel and so, after…
waiting for the new building to be completed, the artist was obliged to paint the same scene over again this time with the new building, the price paid for living in a rapidily developing city which the artist tries to capture! The painting is in acrylic and inks on compressed wooden fibreboard and was finally completed in November 2021.Presently unavailable due to being exhibited until Feb 2027

Michael Gutteridge is a British painter whose works have been extensively exhibited throughout the United Kingdom. His cityscapes combine diverse influences and involve spontaneous forms of distortion expressed via color, proportion, perspective, and an incongruous juxtaposition of styles. Often, Gutteridge endeavors to convey existentially disorientating feelings as well as other types of emotion and general sensual vibrancy. He creates using acrylics and ink on wood.
