About this artwork
Tootsies is an exploration of intimacy through an unconventional lens. By shifting the perspective, I aimed to capture a sense of vulnerability and tactile warmth that traditional portraiture often misses. There is an inherent rhythm to the human form that only becomes visible when we break away from standard viewpoints. For me, this piece is about the beauty of the 'close-up'. A celebration of eroticism that is grounded in the soft, quiet moments…
of domestic reality. Sold to a private collector in the United Kingdom.

Michel Devanakis is a contemporary figurative painter whose work is built around the idea of the threshold. A state of inner tension where opposing forces coexist without resolution.
Born to Greek parents in Cameroon and shaped by a life across different cultural environments, his work reflects a sustained interest in boundaries. Between visible and invisible, private and public, control and emergence.
After more than two decades in graphic design and illustration, he turned fully to painting in 2013. This background remains visible in the precision of his compositions and the clarity of his visual structure.
He develops each painting through a process that moves from digital construction to direct execution. The result is a controlled balance between intention and unpredictability, where each image holds tension without forcing resolution.
Based in Greece, his work has been exhibited internationally and is held in private collections across Europe.
