About this artwork
In this painting, part of the "Sisters & Hipsters" series, he evokes childhood as a starting point for reflecting on what we've lost along the way. In a world dominated by appearance, spectacle, and the fleeting, Micky Goldstein poses a visual critique of this obsession with the superficial, which leaves behind not only essence and spirituality, but also the purest memories: those that shaped us, those of childhood.
The work, with its stylized… figures and intense colors, contrasts the naiveté of the past with the disconnection of the present. Amidst so much artificial brilliance, the emotional emptiness of a society that forgets its most authentic roots becomes evident. But this series is not only a denunciation, but also an invitation to reconnect with what is true: with what we were, with what we still are beneath the layers of time. Because deep down, beyond our differences, we all share a humanity that is born in childhood and lives on in memory.
Goldstein, trained in graphic design and painting, uses personal, minimalist techniques that result in distinctive textures and colors. Through a series of brushstrokes, rollers, and his own hand, he creates expressionist works that play with shadows and challenge visual perception. The emotions captured on each canvas reveal his journey through identity, encouraging the viewer to feel, rather than understand, his deeply personal art.
