I came across this fire hydrant tucked into a burst of yellow flowers on a city sidewalk, and the contrast made me smile. It’s an ordinary corner—cracked concrete, a bit of overgrowth—but the light caught it just right, turning the hydrant into something almost sculptural. The base of the hydrant is silver leaf (which you can see shine in the detail photo) overlaid with some paint to give it shape. I wanted to capture that small humor and warmth,…
