About this artwork
Coming out. I grew up in a time when homophobia was acceptable, even legal , when I was a youngster. Thankfully, where I live, times have gradually changed for the better. One of my own children is homosexual ( I dislike the word 'gay' - it makes it sound like its 'fun', which it certainly isn't if you are unlucky enough to be born in some parts of the world), so I have some direct experience of the latent prejudice that sadly still exists.
