I am at that stage of life when I have had to clear and sell my family home after the death of my parents. They were both hoarders and it was heartrending to sift through their many possessions to pack them up for upcycling. I could only keep one or two mementos that were of particular sentimental value - one of which was my mother's wedding dress. You may think it a curious choice as I had no memory of it (not having been there at the time, or having…

It is this dress that the girl in the lake is wearing. Although my parents relationship was (as far as I can tell) long and happy, my father was quite controlling. He would never go in an aeroplane and this meant that my mother, who longed to see the world, sadly didn't.
