About this artwork
Yet another painting that attempts to express my concern with the world's dispossessed. This time the Romani, the gypsies, the travelling people, the nomads.
The setting is a hill near my home in England. In my hometown of Leamington Spa we have welcomed many refugees from abroad - Syrians, Afghans, Ukrainians etc. but sadly there is still a lingering intolerance of gypsies. I think people are afraid of those who live differently from themselves.… What a dull life it would be if there wasn't 'difference'.
