At the Edge
Series: The Sheep of My House
"At the Edge" is a poetic study of balance and resilience. It reinterprets the classical pastoral theme through a modern lens, depicting a sheep that has finally returned home to stay forever. This is the one we always wait for—a symbol of belonging and peace. Perched on the edge of a symbolic architectural form, the sheep represents the moment of arrival, where ancient heritage meets the contemporary world,… and the long journey ends in a state of eternal presence.
Cast using the traditional lost-wax process at 1200°C in my private foundry, the piece explores the beauty of finding one’s footing. The contrast between the organic textures and stark geometry creates a powerful minimalist aesthetic, capturing the "Anchor of Silence" found in the safety of home.
Note: Individually hand-cast to order in my private foundry. Please allow 2-3 weeks for casting and patination. Signed by the artist with a Certificate of Authenticity.
Nerijus Kisielius, a master sculptor rooted in the Lithuanian classical tradition, harnesses bronze, wood, felt, and paint to bridge ancient techniques and contemporary stillness. His process revolves around lost-wax casting, where he transitions soft, hand-sculpted wax into enduring bronze forms—each piece embracing tactile textures and the narrative interplay of figure and shadow. Through highly symbolic sheep motifs and abstracted objects, his art radiates vulnerability, communal warmth, and a serene pastoral quiet, inviting the viewer to share in a sense of timelessness and the profound silence of fleeting moments made eternal.
